The 2015 Solar Decathlon challenges the minds of collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-efficient, and attractive. Since 2002, the program has educated students and the public about money saving opportunities, environmental benefits and more. William McDonough + Partners’ Alastair Reilly is one of the influential industry leaders selected to join the Solar Decathlon jury this year. With over 25 years of experience in the field, he is a great addition to the the program.
When planning a project, Reilly focuses on research-informed design, while continuing to find innovative, sustainable solutions of complex building types for all unique proposals brought to him. His experience includes large-scale, high-rise, and mixed-use urban developments as well as campus workplace, hospitality, and residential projects. Some of his key projects include, Park 20|20 in the Netherlands, NASA Sustainability Base and VMware Corporate Campus.
The next Solar Decathlon will take place Oct. 8–18, 2015, at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California.
