Views to the Natural World
WM+P crafted highly customized interior details and finishes that incorporate a wide range of materials which were optimized to be safe and healthy and endlessly recirculate in biological and technical systems.
Virginia Beach Residence,
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Through sensitive placement of buildings on the site, the design of this house captures a cinematic progression of views to the natural world. Onsite meadows utilizing native plantings, runnels directing roofwater to a constructed wetland pond and the Chesapeake Bay beyond are all features in a landscape that inspire and intelligently address stormwater capture.
Designed to accommodate large groups of people or the immediate family with equal graciousness, the home is divided into two volumes connected by a central pavilion. The glassy central pavilion, featuring a rooftop garden and viewing platform, houses the central kitchen and family room. Acting as the family hub, this pavilion provides a transition between the communal wing, equipped with facilities for entertaining, and the private bedroom wing.
