It was Stewart Brand who wrote: “A building is not something you finish. A building is something you start.” It’s hard not to think about Stewart Brand’s book How Buildings Learn when you think about the Adam Joseph Lewis Center at Oberlin–a project that our client David Orr always knew would learn and adapt over time.
A decade later, AJL Center celebrated the anniversary and now Eco-Structure magazine has featured the project in its “Flashback” section. The piece includes quotes from Bill McDonough and from Orr.
