B/S/H/ Inspiration House, Park 20|20 in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands by William McDonough + Partners
Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte (B/S/H/) is home to five of the top brands in household appliances – Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, Neff and Constructa – in the first building completed at Park 20|20.
Designed as a flexible, innovative workplace, B/S/H/ includes a full-height atria with a Living Green Wall and Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roof that maximizes energy and daylighting to showrooms that can be converted
to offices as needed.

Slimbouwen technology, which employs a panelized structural floor system with separate prefabricated services, is incorporated to reduce volume, waste, and construction time while allowing further flexibility and demountability. Interior spaces are designed to encourage occupant wellbeing through individual user controls, fresh air and sunlight, and materials assessments to ensure that safe and healthy products are used throughout the construction and use of the building.
Integrated Systems perform 53% above 1990’s conventional building standards, and are 39% more efficient than current code compliant buildings.
The 4 story atria provides abundant daylight to the interior workspaces and showrooms reducing lighting loads, as well as providing more than 5% of the electrical load with an Integrated BIPV (building integrated photovoltaic) roof.
Building roof and structural loads have been designed to anticipate future renewable energy generation including roof mounted photovoltaics, which will be implemented when and where cost effective.
Ground Source Hot and Cold Storage System: In summer, ground water is used to cool the building via a ground source loop. This water then becomes warmer and is piped back into the ground for storage. In winter, the warm ground water is pumped in and used to heat the building, the cool water is returned to the ground storage.
Slimline floor systems together with hot and cold storage wells provide savings on energy consumption. Low temperature floor heating is incorporated in the floor’s sand-cement top layer, and the piping in the Slimline floor provides radiant cooling in the ceilings.
High efficiency LED lighting is utilized for the showrooms as well as the parking garage with a unique BB Light LED leasing program. Daylight dimming sensors provide for energy efficient lighting throughout the offices and showrooms
Rooftop solar panels create energy as well as provide integrated shading.
The green roof includes a rain water catchment basin that filters and stores grey water for reuse in toilet fixtures.
The black water system is designed to transform sewage treatment into a nutrient management system, including the capture of nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorous and carbon for reuse.
Use of Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM products including: Accoya wood for the exterior, AGC High Performance Glazing, Clikbrick masonry, and MOSA tiles.
The external curtain wall system and atria roof are designed as a unitized systems for easy installation as well as disassembly.
The full-height atria and showrooms can be converted to offices as needed.
