Roger Schickedantz has worked with a variety of corporate, institutional, and academic clients over his 20-year professional career. Since joining William McDonough + Partners in 1994, he has completed projects for Herman Miller, the Heinz Endowments, Frito-Lay, and Gazeley Properties (UK). Schickedantz has served as project manager for nearly all of WM+P’s engagements with Ford Motor Company – among them, the world’s largest green roof – at the historic Ford Rouge Center industrial complex. He also led conceptual design for the proposed Inland Northwest Science and Technology Center in Spokane.
During his association with WM+P, Schickedantz has helped develop the firm’s expertise in transforming the industrial building type into a model of sustainable design; recognizing the potential to re-introduce successful technologies - such as daylighting and natural ventilation - while incorporating new developments in green roofs and renewable energy strategies. Recent museum projects in Dearborn, Spokane and the UK have provided an opportunity to transfer this knowledge to cultural institutions.
Prior to joining WM+P, Schickedantz worked with Beyer Blinder Belle of New York on the exterior renovation of Paul Rudolph’s Art + Architecture building at Yale, and from 1985 to 1993, he was an Associate at Cesar Pelli & Associates, where he held design and management roles for The Boyer Center for Molecular Medicine at the Yale Medical School; a Computer Science Center for Trinity College, Hartford; and the Petronas Towers at Kuala Lumpur City Center, Malaysia. Schickedantz speaks frequently on the firm's work and on green roof technologies.
