Richard H. Poff Federal Building Roanoke, VA

William McDonough + Partners was engaged by GSA as sustainability consultant and design lead on this ARRA-funded modernization of a 14 story federal building and courthouse in Roanoke, VA. During the feasibility phase, WM+P developed a matrix-based assessment that mapped the multiple pros and cons of sustainability strategies against project goals as well as impacts to project timeline and budget. The team used this to make prioritized recommendations for strategies to pursue in the design phase. WM+P tracked sustainability strategies through project phases, in addition to leading the design of the new curtain wall. GSA intends to pursue LEED EBO&M certification upon project completion, and the project is currently projected to achieve Gold level performance.
